retplan is designed so that your financial data never has to leave your device. This page explains what is and is not collected when you use the site.

Your planning data stays in your browser

The site has no user accounts and no server-side database of yours. Scenarios, calculator inputs, and preferences are stored in your browser's local storage on your device. We cannot see them. Clearing your browser's site data removes them completely.

Share links and exports

When you share a plan, the plan itself is compressed and encoded into the link or token you copy - it is not uploaded anywhere by us. Anyone you give the link to can decode that plan, so share it as you would the numbers themselves.

Optional self-hosted sync

Some features can optionally sync through a cloud database project that you create and control. If you connect one, that data is stored in your own project under your credentials; it is not sent to us.

Advertising

The standalone tool pages display ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads, and Google's advertising cookies enable it and its partners to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and read more about how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent message before any advertising cookies are used.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited so we can improve the site. It sets cookies to recognize repeat visits and reports aggregate usage such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device type; it does not see anything you type into the planner or calculators. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland these cookies are not set unless you consent. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request logs (such as IP address and browser user agent) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse; we do not use these logs to identify you.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the update appears on this page with a new effective date. Questions are welcome via the contact page.
